Bill O was on a roll with this last night on the Factor's talking points. Kinda surprised it hasn't shown up on MMFA as of yet.

He kept saying, "That's what they are!"
As if saying the N word, then saying, but that's what they are! Makes it OK.

That goes along with my first reaction to this lady.

It is akin to calling African Americans the N word then saying "if you dont like it, go back to Africa".

I'm all for for using the proper verbage when necessary. So we should call republicans fascists. Let's drop the pretense. We should also call many of them racists or biggots. No need to dance around the topic anymore. Plutocrats, oligarchs, elitists, the list goes on.

Oddly a person cannot be illigal, only an action can be illigal. Someone else posted that on this site once. It is very true.

I'm with you. Have you seen this quotation before?

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power."

            Sure does.

Did you see this piece in the NYT by E.L. Doctorow?

To achieve unexceptionalism, the political ideal that would render the United States indistinguishable from the impoverished, traditionally undemocratic, brutal or catatonic countries of the world, do the following:

Doctorow refers to 'unexceptionalism', but the word that comes to mind is fascism.

Emberto Echo has a great definition of FAscism in one of his books. He lists traits like:

          -longing for the good'ol days
          -excessive patriotism and nationalism
          -fear of other cultures

lol...It sounds like a personality test to work at FOX

I agree with this. I'm always hesitant to use nazi comparisions or to call people fascists, but in this case, it is simply true. Fox News is like the realization of one of Herman Goering's fantasies. They are an organization that is almost purely devoted to spreading propaganda, and they have managed to legitimize themselves. Goering would wet his pants. My new philosophy is if you don't want to be called a fascist or be compared to nazis, then stop acting like them.

So if the action is an unlawful kill, is it OK to refer to them as murderers or just folks who killed somebody unlawfully?

Murderer is a noun, a noun that identifies somebody who committed an action. Illegal is an adjective. Somebody who killed is called a killer or a murderer. Somebody who enters a country illegally is called illegal immigrant, undocumented immigrant (legal term) or unauthorized immigrant. Illegal has as much legal value as referring to African Americans as n...s.

      Michelle,

What is illegsal is the act of hiring these people.
Can the debate start there? If the lawbreakers do not hire these people, they wouldn't come here to begin with.

Michelle, I'm confused by your statement and demand to know who told you to say it.

Hey, don't go pooping on the "job creators". You know they're the only ones who can save us. And, if they have to...let's say "test the bounds of legality", we have to let them...and give them more tax breaks to do so. I don't really understand it, but the republicans say it's the only way to fix things.

Michelle was born in the San Fernando Valley ("The Valley") outside of L.A.; her mother is Hondouran. Therefore Michelle is half (insert derogatory term for Hispanic). The next family get together with querida mamacita should be interesting.

It is profoundly disturbing how some second generation Americans choose to forget their origins.

If the gist of the conversation were not so insulting Hannity and his puppets would be funny. I would guess, however, that Cal Thomas is quite comfortable with terms like "pioneer" "pilgrim" and "explorer," in spite of the fact that they were indeed occupiers, invaders, trespassers and squatters who eradicated the native population of the land! Oh wait, they were Euros so it was their God-given right to usurp the rights of others! My bad!

I realize there's a strong desire in America to be PC about everything, but if someone immigrates illegally, then they are by definition an illegal immigrant. It's not an ethnic slur to use a legally accurate term. And this is coming from a hispanic person who supports liberalizing America's immigration laws.

While the term illegal immigrant or illegal alien is quite heavy, there is not much of a problem with said terms. On the other hand, the term "illegal" is a dehumanizing slur. It no different than ni...er.
