        I just read a transcript of the speech. He is really putting pressure on the GOP Congress to do their job. He has a great sense of history and understands it well. And tying it in to where we are today was well done.

        I just took some time to actually watch the video of the speech. WOW! What a speech. If this is the basis for his re-election campaign going forward he'll win. Obama just perfectly defined the difference between him and whoever his opponent is.

        What TEDDY ROOSIVELT was doing at the begining of the 20th century was battling the Robber Barons, the Trusts and Monopolies and the LASSEZ FAIRE economics of the times. He championed the less fortunate and the envioroment.

      Teddy Roosevelt would outlaw these clowns from putting their brand of stink on our airwaves. He'd do it and tell them to kiss his butt.

      That's why TR is my favorite president. I think O can certainly peal a page out of his book. The times are certainly similar.

      Hey Fox, I also head that Obama was wearing shoes with black shoelaces, not unlike the kinds that Josef Stalin used to wear. Why would Obama want to be seen wearing shoes like that? Does he want to appear like he's aligning himself with dictators? Hmm, interesting.

        I like your analogy. There is, however, one fundamental difference that makes Fox's story a tad more loony. Josef Stalin really was an evil dictator. Roosevelt was absolutely not a Socialist.

          No, he wasn't. He was a member of the Republican Party. One can't be a "RINO" in the sense that it is currently being used. Folks are using it to mean "conservative." Not the same thing. One is simply a political club membership and the other is a set of values and beliefs.

          So, are you saying that Teddy did not fit today's definition of a Republican? Then due to a past-to-present time frame in which we all currently live, it must be true that today's Republicans are not what they used to be and the original Republicans were actually liberal. Doesn't that mean that today's Republicans are not actually Republicans by the original definition of themselves?

          I do like this train of thought...to bad today's Republicans don't (or won't) get it.
