Limbaugh claimed Democratic Party is inviting Al Qaeda to "come on in over the southern border" so party can "take your votes"
Accusing the Democratic Party of using the immigration debate as a "vehicle" to gain voters, Rush Limbaugh proclaimed: "[I]f you're Al Qaeda, come on in over the southern border! The Democrats will take your votes as well!"

During the April 11 broadcast of his nationally syndicated program, Rush Limbaugh accused the Democratic Party of using the immigration debate as a "vehicle" to gain voters, proclaiming: "[I]f you're Al Qaeda, come on in over the southern border! The Democrats will take your votes as well!" In recent weeks, Limbaugh has frequently accused Democratic leaders such as Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (MA) of pandering to immigrants in the hope of gaining political power and support. Limbaugh posted a compilation (subscription required) of excerpts from his radio show on his website under the title "This Isn't About 'Immigration.' It's About Advancing Liberalism, Seizing Power and Hurting America."
From the April 11 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show:
LIMBAUGH: All right, the so-called immigration rallies. It's not about immigration. Immigration is just the vehicle. What we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is nothing other than the latest incarnation of the left, the socialist left, the Democratic Party in this country attempting to swell its ranks and regain power and using this issue as a means to do it. They're also trying to depress the Republican base into not turning out. They're not getting much resistance on that from the Republicans, who are mystifyingly absent on this, and it's hard to figure this out how they've so totally missed the boat on this.
[...]
All right, now, look, some of you people need to calm down out there. I've been reading the emails here at the top, and you think I'm missing the boat when I say, "This is not about illegal immigration." I'm talking to you about the reason that the Democratic Party has glommed onto this and who the organizers are and what their objective is. Of course it's about illegal immigration! It's a way to create chaos; it's a way to tear down the country, but it's primarily about getting them back in power. Greetings, and welcome back. Rush Limbaugh, the EIB Network -- 800-282-2882 is the phone number, if you want to be on the program. I am not diminishing the impact of illegal immigration on this. You should see the emails I got. "You're going off the reservation! You're being sucked into not believing what this is really about."
I'm not being sucked into anything. I am thinking independently here. I am not saying illegal immigration is not the problem. I'm saying it's simply the latest springboard, it's the latest vehicle. Two weeks, I've been covering this. I'm just talking now about the motivations and the opportunity that illegal immigration presents. Ted Kennedy doesn't really care about these people the way he's speaking to them. He only cares about them as voters, and whatever harm illegal immigration en masse will do to the country is of no consequence to him. In fact, the more chaos the better. He can blame it all on the Republicans for their attitudes; he can blame the Republicans for creating this angry population group of people.

Hey, and while I'm at it, if you're Al Qaeda, come on in over the Southern border. The Democrats will take your votes as well.

What a windbag. How about the republican side? They are all about fleecing the pockets of the immigrants for every single penny! "Come here legally! Come here legally!" - at $400 bucks a person? That's like a life savings for some of the workers who come looking for a better way of life. Funny thing is, they are actually thinking like a republican when they make that decision - "gee, I can pay $400 to some border agency, or I can pay $40 bucks to some guy who can get me over just as easily. Hey, let's pay $400 bucks!" Like that's gonna happen...
Rush's Al Qaeda dig is just his drama queen shtick. But I agree with him about the Democrats, Ted Kennedy in particular, they are pandering for (future) votes.
I have a great idea. Ted Kennedy and his family should offer to financially sponsor the 11-12 million illegal aliens so they can become legal citizens. What do you think Ted? Ted? Oh Ted?
the GOPigs are in charge. IF they really wanted to close down the border, Herr dubyah and his corrupt ilk could have. Yet, the radical far, FAR anti-American righties just rather blame everyone else for their failures.
If the companies that are employing these people took responsibility instead of Ted Kennedy.
And the repubs have been in charge for the last 12 years. Long enough time to do something about this if they really wanted.
the Illegal Employment of illegals is NEVER mentioned by Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, and all the other Right Wing Media Hacks. I wonder why that is?
The new trend here in America is to work long hours, have no benefits, cannot unionize, are underpaid while doing the job of two or three people, get no pensions....is it any wonder Americans don't want these jobs? This while corporations pay less taxes, eventually they will find a way to fine the existing worker for a company hiring an illegal.
Stop and think for a minute:
Who made this an issue? The Democrats?
If you think so, you've got to be kidding me. This has been pushed hard by Fox News, talk radio, and the Republican congress, with the clear goal of ginning up the hard-core base, primarily to distract from Iraq, Katrina, the deficit, the Kuwaiti ports deal, etc.
O'Reilly and Hannity have been putting these militia nutcases on their shows for months. Savage has been beating this thing to death. Republicans in the House have been pushing this nutty idea of streams of Al Queda crossing the Rio Grande for a good long time (while they mock the idea of inspecting cargo containers).
This has NOT been pushed by the Democrats - but Kennedy and others are now pushing back.
The notion that the Dems have pushed this to rally their base is just ridiculous, but such is the world of talk radio.
I wonder what Taz and Rush (and other liberal-blaming Repubs) think of Republican and presidential hopeful John McCain?
He joined forces with Ted Kennedy on the much-hated immigration bill.
Is he sucking up to Hispanic voters?
Is he allowing AQ to cross the border?
Will Republican's ever condemn their own before making boogeymen out of liberals? (Does is snow in hell? Do pigs fly?)
1) Ask dead-eye dick. He'll have first hand knowledge.
2) I'd say Yes. Pillboy Rush probably boards a plane from time-to-time.
that John McCain is not a real conservative. He's said it before and he trashed McCain all throughout the 2000 primaries and has continued it since.
1. "Rush's Al Qaeda dig is just his drama queen shtick."
2. "But I agree with him about the Democrats, Ted Kennedy in particular, they are pandering for (future) votes."
There's a name for this kind of "No/Yes" troll bait, but I forget it at the moment. Many of the "Cons" here do this kind of thing. It's a bait and switch. "He's evil.... but he does have a point!"
...
The accusation of "politicizing" is an old one. Along with accusations of pandering to the enemy. Which is straight out of the Republican (Gingrich/Rove) handbook. Sure, politicians do this on a regular basis -- and have throughout our history -- but Republicans (and their Conservative followers) do it regularly and loudly. The do it loudly and regularly too. And are even redundant about doing it regularly. They also do it loudly.
G.A. don't be so quick to judge someone based on one post or one issue. I've been posting off and on here since Fall of 2004 (mostly off lately due to lack of time, plus I still dislike MMFA's new format). Taz is a long time poster here, though like me, he's been M.I.A for quite awhile and seems to have just recently resurfaced. I might be wrong, someone please correct me if I am, but I remember Taz as a Democrat and someone who used to be quite good at taking on the right-wing trolls here. I also seem to remember Taz's position on illegal immigration ( he advocated building a wall), so I'm not really surprised by what he wrote here.
I'm disappointed with both the Republicans and Democrats on the subject of illegal immigration. They do seem to be playing a political chess game instead of doing what's best for the U.S. and those that would like to work here on a temporary basis or become legal citizens. Rush of course is a buffoon, but Ted Kennedy motives are also, in my opinion, a bit suspect.
Now please do not refer to me as a Con or troll for voicing my opinion. Thanks.
I have seen a handful of his posts recently and it must be a different Taz. He is a wingnut.
I've always been an Independent who leaned left on most issues, and voted Democrat 90% of the time. One of the reasons I blew off this forum was because I got tired of being attacked bt the left and right for expressing an opinion that didn't always match the talking points on every issue from either party.
Neither party impresses me these days. If there were a 3rd strong major political party, that would probably be the option I'd consider.
P.S. Juice thanks for remembering me, and sticking up for me. But as you can see from JPARK's post, it's a waste of time. Being labeled as a "wingnut" by a liberal is really ironic since I was one of the first posters here to point out the similarities of the Bush administration and Fascism.
...terrorism hysteria, which isn't manly. Consider that the root of hysteria is hyst. Come on, Rush. Get a grip.
You know the radical righties are worried about the Dems since the new RNC talking point is that when/if the Dems take over they are going to "raise taxes and wave the white flag to terrorists (tm)".
quit trademarking! Okay, okay, I can't beat ya, so I might as well join ya (tm).
Holly (tm)
So old Rush went from being Cysterical to in his youth to gain his draft deferment to being Hysterical in his old age.
You made me laugh, King!
Hitler ran a propaganda ministry.
Hitler shut down dissenting voices.
Hitler invaded other nations without any provocation, telling his countrymen there was a "threat".
Hitler singled out groups ... notably Jews and gays ... for less-than-just treatment.
Hitler claimed he was only "protecting" his people.
Hitler referred to groups he disagreed with as "VERMIN".
If you didn't support "der Feurer", you hated your own country and were "with the enemy".
Hitler conducted surveillance without warrants, or even any probable cause.
Hitler claimed the laws did not apply to him.
If anyone points out that these traits are now shared by our current Administration, the rightwing goes ballistic and screams "FOUL!".
Yet, Rightwing commentators have no compunction conflating Democrats with Al Qaeda, our terrorist enemy. And not based on any FACT, but on speculation and extrapolated hypotheticals.
Double Standard? Hypocricy? You bet!
Perhaps you can add to your list, just below "Hitler claimed the laws did not apply to him" the following:
"When Hitler needed to, he created new laws to legalize his crimes."
A tyrant is a tyrant is a tyrant and Hitler was one in a long line of them throughout history.
Comparisons to Hitler are offensive and controversial, but I think it's worth the revulsion to shock an all-too-apathetic America in hopes it will come to its collective senses.
I liked the Rummy-esque rhetorical Q's at the end there.
Why don't we just all get together on this idea:
Find out where and when these dimwits appear in public and bring some good concise arguments along and TAPE their responses and send them over to Robert Greenwald, who can then create another documentary - let's call it Out-Smarted! Any volunteers?
Every time Republicans talk about how weak Democrats will supposedly be on terrorism, they need to be reminded that osama bin laden is still a free man thanks to the meager efforts of this incompetent administration.
The President actually says "So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, ... to be honest with you."
we Republicans value his business too much.
It's a well known fact that you can never destroy Democrats, aka Hardcore Socialists. After every great showdown, when the new incarnation of the Republican Chosen One takes down the latest Avatar of Hardcore Socialism (American Democrats) -- whatever form it may take given the age and its available source of Dark Socialist Power -- there is a never a death of the Hardcore Socialist. Instead, the Avatar merely lose its form, and when the Dark Moon eclipses with the second Sun many centuries later, out from the crannies comes another Avatar as Hardcore Democrat Socialism comes, again, into this world.
We can never know what it may be, sometimes it is a guy who has read a lot of books outside Leviticus, sometimes its a Mexican, sometimes its a swirling orb of lightening of malevolence -- but, luckily for us, there are those given the power to see through the simple veneer of Truth and see the Super-Truth which lays beyond.
For this, we must grant Rush our respect, our love, and treasure him as nothing less than the much needed political divining rod that he has become in our hearts. Because, remember, Communism is still the issue -- have we forgot the traditional, all-purpose invasion-rationalizing word of "Communism"? Have all the kids left it for the other vague, all-purpose word of "Terrorism"? Shame on the new punk-rock conservative kids -- we have to remember that it was Marx, not Osama, who was born of seven-heads by his seven-headed father on the same date as Coulters upcoming book.
Love,
That is the best satire of comic book, pseudo-intellectual, Dungeons and Dragons mindset I have ever read.
Bravo! Keep it coming.
RUSH ROCKS.
If you're going to troll, try to be a bit more interesting at least.
I just printed your tiny tome and slew a sacrificial cockroach before it.
Your navelly-bejeweled acolyte,
Holly
Inviting AL QAEDA to cross the southern border? Can we be sure this guy was only using sleeping pills? Hate to break the news to ya RUSHIE but they are already here. And unless they changed the government sometime last night I believe they cruised in under George W's watch. Which kinda means he was inviting them in and seems they gladly accepted his invite. I mean let's be serious wasn't it KING GEORGE who proclaimed a "wall isn't the kinda message we should be sending!" Well when LAX goes kaboom and it is being shown on every news channel maybe Rush,Cardinal Mahorny,Tom Delay and Sean Hannity can go throw their bibles at AL QAEDA and display their anger that way. Don't ya feel so safe knowing 70 year old women are being asked to remove their shoes before boarding planes? I have to believe that Rush is in a coma somewhere and the radio station is simply playing old tapes of him. It wasn't so long ago that George W made the following statement "there is an old saying in Texas, you can fool me once shame on you,but uh if you wanna fool me uh again uh well uh then uh shame on uh....uh.....well....along those lines...
Hard to believe SNL doesn't take full advantage of this.
