FoxPAC: O'Donnell thanks a slew of Fox-tied supporters

September 15, 2010 12:08 am ET by Jeremy Holden

Thanking supporters that helped propel her to victory in Delaware's GOP Senate primary, Christine O'Donnell ticked off a litany of individuals and groups with deep ties to Fox News, including the Glenn Beck inspired 9-12 movement for "laying the foundation and stirring things up," the Fox News promoted Tea Party Express, and Fox News contributor Sarah Palin for endorsing O'Donnell.

Before thanking Palin for the endorsement, O'Donnell put in a quick plug for campaign contributions. If FoxPAC's past is prologue, it can no doubt be counted on to pitch in.

After all, Hannity has already promised to lead talk radio in generating an "influx of money" to her campaign.

I suggest that MMFA run an analysis of the financial value of talk radio to promote tea party candidates. What's the value of a 30 second radio spot promoting a product with live endorsement by the radio host? How many mentions do tea party candidates get - even if not by name, but by label?

It's pretty obvious that O'Donnell spent bupkiss on paid media, but got of a lot of free media (I hate to call it "earned media" which is what PR types call free mentions) courtesy of right wing talkers and FauxNoise.

At the end of the day, what's the quid pro quo going to be from the right wing talkers? Go back to November 2008 and Limbaugh openly admitting he was carrying water for Republicans.

I find it fascinating that Fox's interest and support of the Republican party may in fact be contributing to its demise. The fact that the party is slowly going down the tubes is very distressing to this life-long Republicn. Witness what happened in Delaware - an unelectable won the primary and lost the support of the local party there. The hysteria whipped up by Beck, Palin, etc. may all be good for generating viewers and revenue but offers very very little to good government and is frankly disgusting and irresponsible.

The Dems always knew Fox was far from being "fair and balanced" but it looks like the establishment GOPers are going to have to wake up and smell the coffee themselves.
