Paging Andrew Breitbart, another wingnut just called Obama a racist

March 23, 2010 1:33 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

Remember, according to Breitbart's latest right-wing talking point, calling somebody a racist is the worst possible allegation unfurled in America. It's an unforgivable act and Breitbart is not going to stand idly by while people do it.

Well actually, it turns out Breitbart will stand idly by when people do. And specifically when right-wingers throw around the "racist" charge about Obama, Breitbart won't say boo. But we'll give him another chance to redeem himself and prove that he's not just a hypocrite.

The latest "racist" attack comes courtesy of (surprise!) Pamela Geller. Here's her wingnut headline

Racist Obama will Not Be Photographed with Jewish Prime Minister of Israel

And here's the hate speech:

This is a .... sin. An outrage. I am sure all of the nazis and Jew-haters are rubbing their hands in glee. The man is a horror. G-d bless Netanyahu for tolerating the jihadist-in-chief. I am deeply ashamed of my once great country.

We anxiously await Breitbart's denunciation.

Gasp! She said she's ashamed of her country!

I'm certain her Right Wing colleagues won't allow that comment to stand, given the standard they set when Michelle Obama was accused of saying something similar.

Totally opposite. Michelle Obama said she was never proud of her country until her husband got elected POTUS.

Geller said she was ashamed of her once great country after the POTUS showed some anti-semitism.

One is a selfish comment, the other shows compassion for other people.

Maybe you'd like to expound on who not getting a photo op with one Jewish man constitutes "antisemitism"? I mean, I could pull up pictures of him with other Jews, even one where he's at the Western wall wearing a yarmulke. But no, BJF, I think you just want an excuse, any excuse, to bash the president.

Nice try. But Michelle Obama's comment was in February 2008.

Her husband wasn't elected president until November 2008.

          Fail.

WRONG. Mrs. Obama made the statement when then Senator Obama received the Democratic Party nomination, and she is not the only person in America to feel this way.

What she was really talking about was the fact that people from different racial/ethnic/religious, etc groups were able to see past the color of his skin and at his intellect and other qualities.

What many Americans won't admit is that there are millions of people like myself and the Obamas that are not really accepted as having full citizenship and rights in this country even though the Constitution guarantees them to us.

Along with us there are LGBTQ persons, Hispanics, Muslims, immigrants, etc. None of us are fully accepted in this society, and to pretend otherwise means that one lives a lie, doesn't have the courage to admit it, and can avoid having to work to resolve the situation.

It may be honky dory for those who don't recognize us as being worthy of exercising our rights of citizenship in this country, but it's not hunky dory for those of us who have to live our entire lives dealing with this sort of BS. It isn't funny, and it isn't a joking matter.

No, boulderdippy, you didn't. You said that "Michelle Obama said she was never proud of her country...," when actually what she said was that she had never been so proud of her country. There's a world of difference. I had to take my pastor to task for repeating that same truncated quote, and he later acknowledged the wrong he had done in repeating such a lie--will you show the same character?

The news reports I've read have said that black House Representatives were called the n word around 15 times while they were walking from one building to another in Washington. Calling people like that 'racist' is appropriate.

Calling Obama a racist without any good reason to do so is very, very inappropriate.

And Breitbart acting insincere? So common it's not funny.

Yeah, like I have a history of pulling stuff out of my butt, and declaring stuff that I don't have the facts to back up.

But I LOVE proving that your side is full of it, so here goes.

The AP is reporting it. http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/joan_walsh/politics/2010/03/20/tea_party_racism

A Congressional Representative is reporting it. http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-news-newspaper-daily-english-online/Politics/22-Mar-2010/Republicans-urged-to-repudiate-racist-taunts

Both that Congressman and John Lewis' spokesperson confirms that it happened. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35965961/ns/politics-capitol_hill/

          Here's a direct link to Rep Carson's comments. http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/raucous-ugly-buildup-to-388345.html

Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., told a reporter that as he left the Cannon House Office Building with Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., a leader of the civil rights era, some among the crowd chanted "the N-word, the N-word, 15 times." Both Carson and Lewis are black, and Lewis spokeswoman Brenda Jones also said that it occurred.

"It was like going into the time machine with John Lewis," said Carson, a large former police officer who said he wasn't frightened but worried about the 70-year-old Lewis, who is twice his age. "He said it reminded him of another time."

Even if there was video or audio, you'd be the first one to claim it was doctored. I think you shag goats and since I have no video evidence of you not shagging goats, I will contine to say you do. Until you can show a video of you standing next to a goat with no shagging go on, I won't believe you. And even if you DO produce a video, you'll also need to produce evidence that no video tricks or CGI or photoshop was used to show you not shagging goats.

Then you simply ignore any report if it was from any Democrat. Very nice Beckish logic. However, the D.C police arrested at least one of these "super patriots" and Politico.com (not exactly left leaning) reported it from their own on-site reporter. This reminds me of the Fox propagandist who also was in denial mode... suggesting that the Dems "planted" an "operative" amidst the Tea Baggers... following the old M.O. of the republicans: accuse others of what you do. Hmmmm... in this day and age of Idiocracy, you'll only accept Tea Bag evidence. What about the House Repulicans who were APPLAUDING rowdy Tea Baggers in the Gallery? Source: CSPAN TV.

building "...housing in East Jerusalem, which Palestinians want as their capital.

The White House formally condemned the Israeli decision and announcement, as did Biden. It was stunning that the administration would use the word "condemn" in connection with a decision by a friend and ally, but it reflected the depth of American irritation.

In the U.S. view, the Israeli announcement served to pull the rug out from under administration efforts to restart peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

"It undermines America's unique ability to play a role - an essential role - in the peace process," Clinton declared yesterday. " (from CBS web sight)

Bush would have turned this into a photo opportunity.

Obama is keeping it understaged so he can talk with the Prime Minister about the middle east peace process, without appearing to either condemn or condone Israels actions.
